*Cause of death?……..Cancer*
.
.
Death comes as a surprise in this field of uncertain life, and our instinct demands us to hate the cause of it. We hate accidents,  the pandemic, and we hate cancer.
.
.
I remember my uncle saying, “to die out of health issue feels like such a shame, that’s why I quit smoking, it’s better if you do too” the day he found out about my habit. And I laughed it off. “With the unstoppable marching of time, that’s been whistling through your eardrums, we’re gonna die one day or the other, who cares about the reason anyway?”that’s what I thought. I light up my cigarette and look at the new bill board in front of the cigarette shop near my college. I see five bald women in ethnic wear being amazingly beautiful. I smoked two cigarettes in awe to that poster. In the beginning i thought that it was trying to fight beauty standards but I realised that it was talking about cancer. The cigarette burns my fingers as I take the last puff, and as I see to my side, a 5year old girl is holding the box of donation in her hand and was stuck in amusement while looking at the poster. She pointed at the poster to her mom saying, “Mom, look, it’s aunt riya, your sister.” Her mom teared up looking at it. She picked up her mobile and called her sister and said, “I’m sorry….” Her voice was trembling, she was trying so hard to hold back her tears but she just couldn’t.

“I’m sorry that I didn’t stop dad,
.
.
I’m sorry that I didn’t raise my voice,
.
.
I’m sorry for just sitting by as they were abandoning you. No, I abandoned you too.
.
.
I’m sorry that you went through it all alone.
.
.
I’m sorry…. I’m sorry.”
“Mom, is that aunt riya?? Give it to me, i wanna talk, i wanna talk.” She lifts her daughter and holds her in her arms and put the call on speaker.
.
“Aunt riya, Aunt riya! You’re looking sooo beautiful in the poster! When’s the movie releasing?”
.
.
“She saw a poster about cancer awareness where all women are bald, she thought that you’re one of them too”
.
“Haha, thanks darling, but I’m not in that poster.”
.
.
“Ohh really? But they’re really beautiful!! Just like you.”
.
.
“Hehe, they really are.”
